Palert is an earthquake P wave alarm with advanced technology. It is embedded Pd technology
developed by Prof. Yih-Min Wu from National Taiwan University (Please refer to the related documents
which Prof. Wu has been published). Designed to reduce earthquake damage, Palert can issue an alarm
within 3 seconds after P wave is detected whether the following shock wave is devastating or not.
Palert offers four kinds of trigger algorithms: Pd, PGA, Displacement and STA/LTA for detecting
earthquakes. Pd algorithm was developed by Prof. Wu as it was mentioned above. PGA stands for Peak
Ground Acceleration. Palert offers 10 Hz and 20 Hz low pass filter which are selected by users to filter
out high frequency components in signal generated by non-earthquake vibration. Component “a” is
especially equipped with real time displacement calculation which is able to deploy displacement trigger
algorithm in “a” axis. The conventional STA/LTA trig algorithm is available on Palert, too.
Intensity standards of both CWB (Central Weather Bureau, Taiwan) and China (GB/T-17742-2008) are
also available and can be shown instantaneously. Other useful earthquake information is stored and
ready for retrieving on Palert. These include trigger time, maximum intensity, maximum acceleration for
each component and maximum acceleration in vector. The powerful networking capability features
streaming real time data to hosts; automatically connects up to 2 servers and NTP (Network Time
Protocol) time calibration. With these networking functions, Palert is a wonderful front end device for
EEW (Earthquake Early Warning) system.
With PC utility, it is possible to record earthquake data for research purposes and to have voice
warnings if needed. Providing two outputs and supporting industrial communication standard Modbus
TCP/RTU, Palert is an ideal product for earthquake safety control in numerous applications.
Palert 为一之地震P 波警报器,其除了具备传统电子式地震开关之功能外,更内嵌由台湾
大学吴逸民教授所开发之地震测报技术,可侦测P 波并在3 秒内决定是否灾害性地震来袭,并
在具破坏力之S 波到达前发出警报讯息,以提供使用者做为地震减灾之用。

地震判别技术是本机之主要特点,总共提供四种机制来判断地震,分别是Pd、PGA、
Displacement 与STA/LTA,有关Pd 之地震判别机制为台湾大学吴逸民教授所创, PGA 为Peak
Ground Acceleration 之缩写,本机备有10Hz 与20Hz 两种低通滤波可供选择,以滤除非地震
之高频讯号;Palert 也特别针对a 轴向(装置固定时为垂直向)做实时位移处理,故可针对垂直向
之位移(Displacement)来做地震判别;而STA/LTA (STA 短周期加速度平均值 / LTA 长周期加速
度平均值)传统地震仪之地震判断逻辑本机亦支援。

可实时显示中央气象局(台湾)颁布之七级地震震度或大陆地震烈度标准,地震之发生时间、大
震度、三轴合成矢量加速度、瞬时三轴向大加速度等;另可依据使用者之设定来分级驱动内
建DO,以作为直接连动外界设备之界面,例如与电梯连接使其可停靠于近之楼层;切断瓦斯
或电热设备等,以降低地震二次灾害。

Palert 内建实时时钟(RTC)并提供NTP 网络校时功能,可自动串流输出资料到二部伺服主机以
作为地震速报EEW 之端末机;可实时显示中央气象局(台湾)颁布之七级地震震度,或中国大陆
GB/T-17742-2008 地震烈度,并可记录近一笔地震事件之正确发生时间、地震之大震度、
三轴合成矢量加速度、瞬时三轴向大加速度等;另透过PC Utility 可记录地震波形与提供地震
语音警示。
