屋面的屋脊瓦裁成333mm×333mm的正方形。沿屋面的坡底处直接铺设，有粘接胶的一面朝上，并偏向檐口处，与屋面接触的面涂抹沥青胶，后粘接正方形屋脊瓦，并应充分搭盖住四坡面沥青油毡瓦，搭接宽度不宜小于100mm。
油毡瓦在木屋面上及防水卷材基层结构做法：木质屋面板的要求板面牢固平整，变形小，板厚度在12mm以上（根据檩条间距选定厚度）。用2m直尺检查，大间隙不应大于5mm，且间隙应平缓。板与檩条或层面梁间用镀锌钉或螺栓连接。
