成化斗彩鸡缸杯为明代成化皇帝的御用酒杯，烧造时因帝王之家的高要求，成品率不高，上品供奉宫廷，次品则被销毁，因而流传到民间的数量极少。在古代瓷器收藏家之中就已经流传这样一句话：“宁存成窑，不苟富贵。”另在《万历野获篇》中则有“成窑酒杯，没对至博银百金。”成化官窑瓷器受人追捧程度可见一斑。
