钧窑是宋代五大名窑之一，但由于人们对其的了解程度有限，前些年即使是宋代钧窑里的也很少得到市场的关注。近年来，在国际高古瓷器拍卖市场走强的带动下，使得宋代钧瓷逐渐摆脱了受冷落的遭遇，成为上升空间的瓷种。
钧窑瓷极其珍贵，这在民间有众多的说法，比如“纵有家产万贯，不如钧瓷一件”。“钧瓷无对，窑变”，“入窑一色，出窑万彩”等等。对于钧瓷的商业价值，当地民谚说：“进入西南山，七里长街现，七十七座窑，烟火遮住天，客商天下走，日进斗金钱”。
拍场上成交的钧瓷有两类：一类是以花盆、盆托、鼓钉洗、出戟尊等为代表的所谓陈设瓷，也有学者称这类瓷器多是用于养花的花器；另一类是以传统碗、盘为代表的日用圆器，炉、坛、缸、罐等较少见，有学者称这类为民窑日用器，似乎有失偏颇。
